The Ultimate Product Guide For Redheads

The Ultimate Product Guide For Redheads

Today’s post is going to be a little different. It won’t be for everyone but it’s one I’ve wanted to sit down and write for a while now. It’s basically my go-to guide for redheads. I want to share all of my holy grail products that I’ve tried and tested. Growing up as a redhead, I definitely learned throughout the years that there were certain things that did not suit me as well as they suited a brunette or a blonde for instance. Whether it was makeup or clothes – us redheads definitely find it a little trickier to find the perfect products. I know there are quite a few redheads who follow me so I thought this might be helpful for you….

Probably one of the topics I get asked most about when it comes to being a redhead is what self tan I use. 90% of the time if you are a redhead it usually means you’re pretty fair so fake tan is something you really want to perfect. This was something I definitely had to play around with for a long time before I got it right. Thankfully I finally did and I’ve never been happier with how I look now with fake tan on. The one I’ve been using for the past few years  is the Bperfect Cosmetics ’10 second tan’. I go between two shades mostly. The liquid ‘medium coconut’ and the new ‘medium dark’ strawberry mouse. These both work really well for me – particularly the lighter one. Definitely worth a try if you are still on the hunt for one this Summer. You can also use my code ‘retro20’ for 20% off if you do decide to purchase.

Rimmel Wonder’ful Brow: If you watched this recent VLOG you will have seen me talk about this product from Rimmel. Over the last month or so this has been one of my go to brow products and I’m finding the colour great so far. I use the shade ‘light’ and big plus – it’s really affordable!

MAC ‘Redhead’ Brow Pencil: Ever since Kaelin introduced this product to me (back when she worked in MAC) I’ve kept it in my collection. The fact that the colour of it is called Redhead pretty much sums up how perfect the colour is for me. I definitely recommend giving it a go if you currently find it hard to match your brows to your hair.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation: One of my go-to foundations for over a year now. I can’t rave about this one enough. The shade I use when I don’t have tan on is ‘001 porcelain’ and it’s the perfect pale shade that doesn’t wash me out. I then use ‘200 soft beige’ when I have tan on and it blends perfectly.

NARS Radiant Longwear Foundation: Another one of my favourites. This is pricier option but again they do a really good colour range especially if you are the paler side. I use the shade ‘mont blanc’ when I don’t have tan on and ‘punjab’ when I do. Also a little trick for when my tan is fading is mix the two shades together. Works great!

It Cosmetics CC Cream: And lastly when I am on holidays or on the really hot days here in NYC, I love to wear my CC cream from It Cosmetics. The two shades I wear in this are ‘light medium’ when I’m pale and ‘medium tan’ when I have tan on. This is so light and comfortable to wear and again the colours are perfect. I love that it has SPF in it too.

MAC ‘Honeylove” lipstick: One of my favourites for years now is this shade from MAC. I love to wear nude shades and this one is the perfect tone in my opinion. It also wears really well and isn’t drying like some other MAC lipsticks. I like to pair it with the lipliner Stripdown.

Rimmel Stay Satin Liquid Lip: If you’ve been following me closely this year you will have seen me talk about this liquid lip a hundred times. I’ve been wearing this on repeat in the shade ‘As If’ and it’s safe to say I’m obsessed. If you haven’t tried these you need to – the formula is amazing and they are less than €10.

Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim Lipstick: This is pretty new to my collection but I’ve quickly fallen in love with it. I wear the shade ‘The First Time’. It’s a little more on the pinky beige side but I love how it goes with my colouring and it’s perfect for Summer. Really comfortable to wear to which is a bonus.

Rimmel Magnif’eyes Nude Edition: I love to wear bronze & gold eyeshadows mostly so this is a really good affordable option. It has tons of gorgeous shimmery colours. You might remember Kaelin used it on me for my festival look in our Coachella makeup tutorial.

Urban Decay Naked: I think a lot of us have this one in our collection. Most people grew out of theirs but I still love and use mine all the time. I think it includes some of the very best shades for redheads especially. It includes a really nice mix of neutral mattes especially. Highly recommend it if you haven’t tried it already.

Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes: And lastly this palette is one that I thought I would not like until I actually used it. It has a lot of peachy/pink tones so I didn’t think it would suit me but to my surprise I ended up loving it. Again the pinky tones are a little more summery so perfect for this time of year and it’s just a great one if you want to have a little fun with your makeup. It definitely taught me that I can step away from neutral bronzy tones every now and again.

You know by now that I love my neutrals. 75% of my wardrobe is made up of black, white, beige and grey. One of the main reasons I love to wear these tones on repeat is because I find that they work really well with my hair. Especially black & beige. I love how almost let my hair do the talking and I just think a neutral look is always a chic one.

When I’m not in neutrals (which is rare) the colours that I love to wear especially during Summer, include greens, blues & purples. I definitely think that these compliment the tone of my hair best. I specifically love rich green, baby blue and lilac and I love to have fun with these even if only in my accessories.

I tend to mostly avoid reds, bright pinks & yellows. I definitely don’t think all redheads need to avoid these colours as they are so beautiful on some other redheads that I know and follow. However, I just don’t think they suit me personally. My mom never dressed me in these colours growing up and I think it just stuck in my head.

This won’t come as a shock to you but being a redhead I definitely have one main holy grail product that I never leave the house without. You guessed it,… Sun Cream! My all time favourite brand for SPF is Supergoop. They are so innovative and I appreciate the wide selection of SPF products they carry. I use their ‘everyday sunscreen‘ the most followed by their ‘sunscreen mist‘.

I know that this was a bit of a random post but I do hope that any of my redhead readers found it helpful in some way :)
