Lets face it, these days we all like to take photos. It has become a very normal way of life to pull out your phone when anything at all happens. Whether to record it for Snapchat or to get the perfect Instagram shot. It’s our generations biggest habit. Especially when we go travelling, which is another thing most of us love to do. I for one love documenting trips as you all know I’m sure. I really like being able to look back on the memories so I always seek out the best places to snap some photos when I am somewhere new. With NYC being one of the most visited cities in the world every year I thought it might be helpful to some of you if I made a list of what I think are the most picturesque places here. Having lived here for almost 4 years now and after taking quite a few photos (just a few lol!) I have narrowed down the best spots to get that perfect Instagram shot! Here are a few of them..
1. Top Of The Rock
I’m starting off with one my very favourite places in all of New York to to take a picture – The Top Of The Rock. On one side it has a view of some of New York’s biggest skyscrapers including the Empire State Building and one the other a beautiful view of Central Park. A must see!
2. Gapstow Bridge in Central Park
There are lots of great places to take a picture in Central Park but Gapstow Bridge tops the list in my opinion. With a view of Fifth Avenue & the Plaza Hotel in the background you are sure to get the perfect Instagram shot!
3. Brooklyn Bridge
The next bridge on my list is the Brooklyn Bridge which is another one I could not leave out. Not only is walking over the bridge one of my favoruite things to do in NYC, it is only one of the favourite places to shoot some photos. The views are incredible!

4. Grand Central
Another must see in my opinion for your New York album. Although it can be quite busy to get a photo you are always be sure that you’ll capture a proper New York in Grand Central. A good tip is to stand up stairs and bring a wide lens if you have one!

5. Smorgasburg in Willamsburg
My favourite food market in New York It happens ever Sunday during the Summer months and not only is it a great day out. It’s a great opportunity for a photo. With everything nearly type of food they sell being very instagramable and a view of the City skyline as your background, you cannot go wrong!

6. Flatiron Building
One of New York’s most inconic & well known buildings. It certainly is a sight and being situated in one of my favourite parts of the city, it makes for a great picture too. Any time you pass you’ll often see a number of people trying to get ‘the shot’ & I definitely don’t blame them.
7.DUMBO
After you cross the Brooklyn Bridge, you can can walk into a place called DUMBO (one of my favourite places in New York! With a perfect few of Manhattan in such a lovely setting, it is one of the picturesque places that you could come across!

8. Greene Street in Soho
One of my very favourites on this list! Soho is my ultimate favourite place for taking my outfit photos in New York especially Greene Street. The beautiful building and the usually great lighting make for a great OOTD snap.

9. The Met Steps
If you have watches Gossip Girl you will know exactly what I am talking about. The Met Steps are the steps in front of the Met museum located in the Upper East Side. They make for a great background and if you are lucky enough to get there when its not too busy you will get a great shot!

10. The West Village
My favourite Sunday afternoon spot. Every corner is more picturesque than the next and you will really feel like your taking pictures in the heart of New York. If you are a SATC fan too, like me, you can find Carries stoop there and grab a snap in front of it!
Whether you are visiting or live here, I hope you find this little list helpful when it comes to getting those oh so important photos. Be sure to follow me along on Instagram (@retroflame) too, to check out any new places I might find along the way!
