Hello from NYC! First chatty post of the year from here :) I have to say, it feels really nice to be back. I still haven’t done food shopping or properly unpacked but I’m getting there!! Haha! This week I just really wanted to put all my focus on creating new videos/photos for you and I’ve absolutely loved being back doing it. Taking a little break over Christmas was SO SO needed and now I feel full of energy and ideas again.

In today’s post, I have two new things to tell you about. 1) THE new coat. I cannot believe I found this is in a charity shop!!!! I nearly died. It was the morning I was flying home to Ireland for Christmas and I was running around the place doing a million & one things. I had a big bag to drop into my local charity shop (Housing works on the Upper East Side) and when I was on the way out – I spotted it!! I quickly tried it on (my flight was in a few hours) and knew I had to have it. It’s faux fur (I looked into the label to make sure), has the most beautiful button details and means I can now finally fit in with all the glam Upper East Side ladies I see on Madison Avenue every day. Haha!! I found a REALLY similar one Here and also have linked some other amazing faux fur finds below…..

The second thing I want to chat about is the fact that Kaelin & I took these photos. I honestly don’t know when was the last time I shot blog photos myself – I’ve worked with different photographers for the last 4+ years. If you read My Dream 2018 post, you’ll have seen that one of my goals for this year was to give photography one more go. Being honest, it just doesn’t come naturally to me and for the last few years, I’ve delegated it out. Which by the way, I think it the BEST thing you can do in business. Figure out the things you’re not good at and find someone who is to help you. I’m still 100% going to work with photographers again this year but I also want to be able to have the option to do it myself if I want/need to. I’m a person who hates being dependent/reliant on other people so I want to always have the option to do it myself too. So I got a new camera, downloaded Lightroom, spent all week trying to figure it all out (I just really wanted to prove to myself I could)….and here is the end result. Not the most amazing photos you’ll ever see in your lifetime, by a long shot, but more importantly than anything else, they’re proof that you can do whatever you want once you put your mind to it. NO excuses.

And don’t get me wrong, I know there’s A LOT bigger things to be figuring out & mastering, but for me this is a huge step. Facing something I hated head on and getting it done. I’m actually so excited to keep improving now. One of my favourite quotes to apply to every area of my life is:

“You’ve got what it takes, but it will take everything you’ve got.”

At the end of the day, whatever it is you want to do, the first big step is to believe you can do it. I touch on this is in tomorrow’s video too which I can’t wait to share!! So stay tuned for that & I’ll see you then :)

Have a great Thursday & as always, thanks for reading!

x Erika
