Day one down and it was a busy one! Fashion week is always super jam packed but especially this year as I am only doing half of the week and therefore, tried to squeeze in as much as I could. I started the day one off by shooting with one of my favourite Australian fashion websites ‘BNKR’ which was so much fun and then Kaelin & I headed backstage at Cinq A Sept. I’ve always loved going backstage as it brings back great memories for me from my very first NYFW when I interned with Whitney Port so we both really enjoyed that. It was Kaelin’s first time going backstage too so as you can imagine she was loving life watched the makeup artists in action haha!
I decided to start off Fashion Week with one of my favourite outfits that I had planned from the Australian website I shot with ‘BNKR’. It was by a brand called ‘Keepsake’ which I love & although pink usually is a colour I wouldn’t sway towards I absolutely loved this two piece the minute I saw it and just knew it would be perfect for Fashion Week. It was super comfortable as well which was a bonus! I also loved that it didn’t require a lot of accessories due to the print. I simply paired it with my go-to rose gold sandals, my Chloe nile, my CLUSE watch & these fab new sunnies from Kate Spade. I don’t think it is available on the website just yet but as soon as it is I will be sure to share a link. In the meantime check out the other items they have HERE.
The weather was actually a little chillier than I expected in the morning but thank god it warmed up as the day went on. We’ve had the weirdest Summer here in New York with temperatures being lower than usual but I’m definitely not complaining – it was a lovely change from last Summer’s constant humidity. However, due to it being hot one minute & cold the next I have noticed my lips being much drier than usual. So, I’ve been reaching for my new eos Crystal lip balm throughout the week in preparation. Since it is such a convenient size I’ve been able to bring it along with me to all of the shows/events too which is great. It is eos’s newest release and what’s so great about it, is that it’s 100% natural & vegan. I’m the kind of girl who always has dry lips so I love carrying around lip balm 24/7 and I think this will definitely be my new go-to.
Yesterday evening I attended two shows. First being Noon By Noor which I absolutely loved. It is one of my favourite shows to attend each year so I’m glad I didn’t miss it. Red was absolutely huge on their runway being the colour of the season. I love the all white look with the pop of colour below and that jumpsuit – wow!! I then went on to attend Tadashi Shoji which I really enjoyed as well. I think being able to attend any shows at NYFW will never get old for me. Now I’m so excited for the rest of the events and shows over the next two days before I head to Barbados on Sunday.
Be sure to follow along the rest of my Fashion week antics over on my Instagram (@retroflame) & Snapchat (@retroflame1) to see my outfits & the rest of events/shows that I attend.
Have a great weekend,
x Erika
