If you’re long-time follower of Retro Flame, you’ll know I especially love two things:  1. Wearing Black & White and 2. Sweet Treats. So when the team at Louise et Cie challenged me to style a favourite look at one of my favourite sweet-treat spots here in New York, I of course, jumped at the opportunity. You’ll know that I’ve been lucky enough to add quite a few new Louise et Cie pieces to my collection over the past few months and the latest two are these stunning pointed-toe black heels and pom bucket bag. (For shipping to Ireland – you can see the shoes HERE & the bag HERE).

There’s something about an all black & white look that just makes feel ready for the day and there’s honestly nothing I rather wearing. When I wore this look, I actually mentioned on my Snapchat (retroflame1) that the heels were so so easy to walk in and I totally still stand by this statement. I’ve worn them a few more times since and they are just the dream. They give you just enough height and are super comfortable. I love wearing them with black jeans too! The pom bucket bag is also great for the days I have a little more to carry around. If I want to bring my planner with me, this is the bag I reach for – it fits in perfect! It’s also super light which I always look for in a bag. I do so much walking here in NYC so I don’t want a bag to ever weigh me down.

Laduree boutique cafe on Madison Avenue will forever be one of my favourites here in NYC! From the minute you walk in, you just feel fancy, haha! As well as their macarons (which everyone knows them for) they also have the most amazing coffee (Kaelin said it was the best coffee she’s had in a while) and their desserts are to die for! Oh and their decor is right up my street too! If you’re in New York and fancy a treat (or two), be sure to visit this little gem.

“If you push through that fear of being scared,
that fear of taking risks – amazing things can happen.”

It’s hard to believe it’s already been nearly a week since I was sitting in that exact spot at Laduree. As you may have noticed, I’ve been doing VLOGMAS over on My Youtube Channel which has definitely made things a little busy and made time go even faster than usual. For those of you who mightn’t know, Vlogmas is where Youtubers do a daily video every single day from Dec 1st – Christmas Day. We bring you along with us each day and show you how we’re spending the lead-up to Christmas. Seeing as I’m spending half the month here in New York and the other half back in Ireland, I figured it would be an exciting month to do it. I really got into watching other peoples’ Vlogmas last year and promised myself that when I had my own Youtube channel, I would do it too. I won’t lie, I was very nervous but I’m honestly so so happy I bit the bullet. I’ve been absolutely love it so far! It’s definitely a lot of work (as I have to edit each day) but I’ve had such a laugh so far watching everything back. So far, I have 6 days live on my Youtube Channel (Day 7 will be going live later today) and it’s been such a treat to see that some of you seem to really be enjoying the videos. I’ve loved all the tweets & snapchats!

I know it’s a little cringey, but in life, you really do have to face the things that scare the crap out of you. Editing videos have literally been the bane of my life at certain times this year. I truly believe that some people are just not programmed to do certain things, haha! But I didn’t want to leave 2016 letting that fear win out. So I set myself the challenge of Vlogmas (one last challenge this year) and I can honestly that after 7 videos, I’m finally starting to feel so much more confident about the editing side of things. I’m still not amazing at it – but I’ve come a long long way which means more to me than anything.

I know watching these types of Youtube videos might not be everyone’s cup of tea (it really wasn’t mine until last year) but from my own experience, once you start watching one, you get addicted!! Videos and Vlogs allow you to see the ‘real’ side of things and that’s why I absolutely love doing them. I always want to continue to show you more than just a pretty picture on Instagram. I have to say the Day 5 video is still my favourite to date (‘Come spend the day with me in my office’) …I’m STILL laughing at Kaelin it in. Just never gets old :)

In between all the Vlogmas craziness, I’ve just been getting myself ready to head home for Christmas. I still can’t believe it’s next week – I’m so excited!! I’ll be home for 3 weeks and as I mentioned on my Snapchat yesterday (retroflame1) I might just be doing an event in Kerry while I’m home. So keep an eye out for more info on that if you think you’d like to come along!

Hope you’ve all been having a great week!
