Despite the 30 degree weather here in New York, you’ll still find me resisting typical Summer dressing. I’m just not into it. I’m most comfortable a little more covered up and plus, I couldn’t wait to wear this tasseled knit from H&M. I found it in there a few weeks ago and absolutely love it! Paired with my go-to ripped jeans, my Reiss Bag (on sale now) and a pair of statement heels – it was the perfect look for a casual Friday evening in Soho. Greene Street is one of my favorites!

It’s funny, this morning on my way to work, I shared an Uber Pool (new obsession) with a guy called Justin. He had just worked a 12-hour night shift as a nurse at a hospital close by but was still full to the brim of energy & positivity. The journey took about 30 mins and we spent the whole time chatting about why we both loved New York. Justin just moved here 3 weeks ago, from North Carolina, and I still always see myself as ‘new’ here too, so we talked about the typical pros & cons of moving to a new place. There’s nothing I love more than meeting someone who gets just as excited as me when talking about NYC.
I don’t know if I’m just imagining it but lately, whenever I meet someone new, one of the first questions they ask me is ‘Do I love New York?’. And then this is always followed by,’ Why?’ Of course my answer is always yes to the first question but I have had to think a little more about my next answer. I think it’s totally acceptable to just say, it’s New York City – what’s not to love? But there’s definitely more to it and I think I’ve finally figured out what it is. It’s the people. I’ve always been a little fussy about the people I spend time with because I’m a true believer in the fact that some people just work better together than others. There has to be that ‘click’ & support. For ages, I used to believe that opposites attract, but I don’t know, New York is changing my opinion. It’s teaching me the importance of surrounding yourself with people who have the same goals & ambitions and it’s teaching me how to distinguish these type of people from the rest. So yes, to make a long story short, I love New York for teaching me this particular lesson and for introducing me to people like Justin (and so many of my friends here) who just ‘get it’.
Have a great week!
