It goes without saying that a little black dress is an essential in every girl’s wardrobe. But the trick is in finding a good one. The right fit, the right shape and most importantly, versatility. You want to be able to wear it a million & one ways. This fit & flare dress from Stitch & Needle is my new favourite. Perfect for work with brogues and also 100% suitable to be a little more dressed up. Two essentials for any item in a New York wardrobe.
“The best things in life are the people you love, the places you’ve seen,
and the memories you’ve made along the way.”
Yesterday after work, I met with Christina on the upper east side and discovered this tiny cafe called, Bel Ami (which means ‘beautiful friend’). It’s funny, after living in New York for a year now, there literally are memories on every single corner. If I walk down a particular street in Soho, it reminds me of that time I went shoe shopping after a shitty day (excuse my french) during my first summer here. If I pass by Aria Wine Bar or Employees Only, I instantly think of the fun night I had with Lorna, Louise and our other friend Dearbhla. If I pass by a diner or a nail salon on the upper east side, I immediately associate it with rent day. While Kaelin was here, we both made a pact that on the first of every month (when rent was due), we would go and treat ourselves to biggest burger & nicest manicure we could find – to help us forget about the crazy amount of money we had just handed over. If I’m anywhere near midtown west, I remember the Summer I spent here with 8 girls in a 2-bedroom apartment (true story) and whenever I walk through Central Park, I think of all the time I’ve spent there with some of my very favourite people. Wherever you’ll go you’ll make memories and honestly, there really is nothing more important. New York brings both the good & the bad (on a daily basis) but I know that my time spent here so far will stay with me forever.
Hope you’re all having a great week,
