The Ultimate A/W Coat Guide – 6 Styles You Need

Hi everyone – I hope you are all having a great week! Today I’m back with an A/W coat guide for you. I did a similar post to this one last year and a lot of you gave me really great feedback about it so I thought it would be good to do an updated version. Living in a place like New York during Autumn/Winter means that my outfits often consist of jackets/ coats alone so I really need to have a good classic selection that I won’t tire of. I think its important to get this right early in the season also as jackets & coats can be more on the expensive side so you want to make sure you are getting plenty of wear out of them and your money’s worth i.e it’s not much good investing in an expensive coat in the middle of February. So today I broke it down into 5 different styles that I personally get a lot of wear out of and linked some good options that are online right now….

I think everyone owns (& loves) a camel coat but just in case you don’t I wanted to include some options. I personally think it is a must have piece in an Autumn/Winter wardrobe. It’s just so timeless. If you want to invest or upgrade from the one you have this & Other Stories option looks stunning!

During the very cold months my faux fur coat is my hero item. It not only keeps me warm but always makes me feel like I’ve put in an effort when I mightn’t have. It’s just a very chic coat to have in your collection. This H&M one looks so cosy and I love the colour!

Another one of my most worn jackets would definitely be my aviator. Funnily enough it’s always the jacket I get most compliments about too. It definitely gives off a cooler vibe while still looking classic. an essential in my opinion. This two-tone one would be great staple to have if you are thinking about investing.

You all know by now that I love my trench coats, especially at this time of year when it hasn’t become too cold yet. They are also a great coat to have when Spring comes around. This Mango style really caught my eye!

I’m not  huge pattern girl most of the time but I do love a check coat. It’s great to pair on with a monochromatic look if you’re in the mood to jazz things up a little. I love to opt for either black/white or browner tones when I’m buying  a check coat like this River Island option & this one from ASOS for example.

…And last but certainly not least, the classic straight coat. No matter what colour I see in this style, it’s the shape that really draws me in. I love the more structured shoulder look – I think it always looks more expensive and luxurious. Like this one from H&M for example (who are killing it with coats already this season). They are just a piece that always looks so effortless & chic!

As always, I hope you enjoyed this post and got some inspiration from it.
