Hey Everyone – I hope you are all having a really great week so far! :) Today I wanted to do something a little different here on Retro Flame. I appreciate that a lot of you come here to read my fashion posts so I want to make more of an effort to be as diverse as I can be when writing them. I was at an event recently that opened my eyes to inclusive fashion. The word inclusive in the fashion industry means a brand that offers all sizes 0-40. This is quite rare which is so unfortunate. I’ll be the first to say I’ve been a little oblivious to this as my size is almost always available from most brands but that’s definitely not the case for so many women. So I wanted to do some research and shed light on 9 fashion brands that are fully inclusive and have something for everyone. Through this post I hope I can make more people aware of the lack of fully inclusive brands and celebrate the ones that are doing it already. Absolutely everyone should be able to shop something they love that makes then feel and look fabulous. So here goes…
A favourite of mine and I’m sure a lot of yours, is River Island. It’s my go to place to shop for new, on trend pieces to add to my wardrobe. For example, this jumpsuit – I adore anything black and white but this particularly caught my eye as it’s petite and jumpsuits are always too long on me. It makes me love the brand even more knowing that it offers a wide range of styles and sizes ranging from petite to plus.
Anthropologie is expanding into plus size for it’s very first time. They now offer a full range of sizing from petite that offers XXS-XL to plus size, which now offers 16W-26W. The brand really has something for everyone from Jeans an your basics like T-shirts to gorgeous Summer dresses like this one.
Summersalt is a brand I got familiar with last year and have since grown to love. Founded by two women who wanted other women to feel comfortable in swimwear and have fun with it, they have quickly become very popular. It was their event that I attended which sparked my idea for this post. It was for the launch of their power suits which were designed by 5 real women and really focused on size inclusivity. They have recently expanded into travelwear & underwear also. l I love this brand and currently have my eye on this black swimsuit – how fab! For such a small/new brand you have to admire how they inclusivity a priority.
As you will know, I recently collaborated with Ann Taylor over on my Instagram so you already know I love this brand. However, I was even happier to find out that they offer an extended range of sizes. I especially think they are so great for workwear which can be a tough one to shop. This blazer in particular caught my eye – you know I love my suits!
Reformation is another store that I have always had a lot of love for. It’s known for being a really sustainable brand but also recently announced that it is offering inclusive sizing following the major success of adding plus size to their best selling denim. Reformation is the kind of place you go for to find that perfect “nice top with jeans” or that pretty Summer dress. I love this one!
The online website we all love to shop on! With it’s huge range of fashion that offers all sizing, it is no wonder that ASOS is one of my go-to places to shop for any occasion. As I was browsing through the site I found this dress that caught my eye. How fab would it be for a wedding or event this Summer.
Another very popular website that we all know is Nasty Gal. And while I do think they need to expand their range of sizes for all items, I appreciate that they stock plus size items for some of their stock. For example, these gorgeous trousers from the Emma Louise Connelly X Nasty Gal collaboration come in plus size and would look fab on anyone. It’s definitely a great option for on trend pieces.
Mod Cloth is a brand I’ve been familiar with for a while now although I must admit I haven’t shopped ever. However, after writing this post it will definitely be a new go-to for me. They have a really wide selection of styles for all occasions and some some especially great Summer stock online right now. Like this white top – I love the shoulder detail!
This is a great place to shop for occasion wear and workwear. However, they have some fab summer dresses on their website – I really like this gingham style in particular. With it’s success of it’s collaboration with Universal Standard they have released another collection offering essentials for every body in sizes XXS-5X. More brands definitely need to follow suit.
I really hope you found this post helpful if you do find it hard to shop for your own particular size. All women should be able to shop inclusively on all stores and hopefully in the future we will see more and more of our favourite brands offering inclusive sizing.
