My 25 Piece Winter Capsule Wardrobe

My 25 Piece Winter Capsule Wardrobe

Hey everyone and welcome to the first fashion/shopping blog post of the year. I’m so excited to be back doing these kind of posts for you. You may have seen my new video yesterday but if you haven’t, let me fill you in. I basically chatted all about the idea of creating a capsule wardrobe and brought you along while I choose the items for mine. It’s something that I have wanted to do for the longest time. After having a huge clear out over the weekend and still being left with far too many clothes, I thought it was about time and a great time to do it too. I’m already excited to test out having a capsule wardrobe and hopefully continuing to cut down my wardrobe more & more throughout the rest of the year. So back to the post, I wanted to chat a little more about the items I put in my capsule wardrobe and why I couldn’t live without them. I thought this might help you create yours and I’ve also linked some options in case you need to make any investments for the year ahead.

LEATHER JACKET

My leather jackets are such staple pieces in my wardrobe that I actually ended up including two in my capsule wardrobe. My black Zara one & my light pink one from All Saints. I can already thin of so many outfits for these so including them was a no brainer. If you think you need to invest in, this one from ASOS is a good option.

BLACK BLAZER

I think we can all agree on this one decision. A black blazer is one of the most versatile & worn pieces in my wardrobe. Without a doubt this will be one of pieces I reach for most from my capsule wardrobe. If you are looking for one to add to your wardrobe this year I love the look of this Warehouse one.

WHITE BLAZER

I live in blazers so I also included a white one which again I know I could re-style lots of different ways. The one I have is very similar to this style and it’s probably one of the pieces I reached for most last year.

CHECK BLAZER

And again I couldn’t leave it at that when it came to blazers so I also included my oversized check style. I particularly love this blazer and have already worn it this year which is a good sign. I think everyone should have one in their wardrobe if I’m honest – this style looks like a good option if you do want to invest.

WHITE/CREAM COAT

Next I included my off white Ganni coat which I invested in at the end of last year. The reasons I choose this is because a)it’s warm and b)I feel great in it. The quality is fantastic and I loev how the oversized look of. I know I will be reaching for this a lot. Fo ra more affordable version, this one from Mango looks fantastic.

FAUX FUR COAT

New York is freezing right now so I also included my Faux Fur. You do need to be practical when choosing your items but I also styling this so I knew it was a good choice. This one on & Other Stories is very similar to mine actually.

TRENCH COAT

My trench also had to be included as it’s one of my favourite items in my wardrobe. It’s such a chic piece that I can re-style many different ways. If you think you need to invest in one for 2019 this one from ASOS looks great!

COATED JEANS

My coated jeans are definitely a piece of clothing that I could not live without. I wear these every single week both day & night so it was a very easy decision. Mine are the Jamie Jeans from Topshop.

LEATHER LEGGINGS

Another very easy decision, my leather leggings. During the winter months I get SO much wear out of them. Mine are a pair I picked up in Zara a few months ago very similar to these ones.

LIGHT WASH STRAIGHT JEANS

Straight jeans are definitely something I only started wearing last year but they have quickly become a staple. They are the only jeans I included which was a tough choice but lately they are what i reach for most and that’s what you have to consider when building your Capsule Wardrobe. Unfortunately my pair from H&M are sold out but this Something Navy pair looks like a great fit.

LEATHER SKIRT

Another must have especially for nights out here in New York, was my leather skirt. We can all agree how versatile this item is and I can already think of lots of outfits to create around it. If you don’t have one you love I definitely recommend to invest in one sooner than later. This one from River Island is a good option.

CIGARETTE TROUSERS

I included my camel cigarette trousers because it’s a great style to wear if I have a meeting or event. You can also dress them down as well which I love. I actually need to invest in a black pair and love the look of these ones.

BLACK WIDE LEG TROUSERS

Next up my black wide leg trousers which was another no brainer. These are such a staple in my wardrobe and again something I would wear for meetings and events so a necessity for my lifestyle. Mine are very similar to this pair – I love the button detail!

WHITE / CREAM WIDE LEG TROUSERS

I also included my cream pair that I got last year in Mango. I’ve already worn these this year and I’m excited to style them lots of different ways. Mine are sold out now but this pair looks good!

WHITE SHIRT

The easiest decision of all I think -my white shirt. I’ve said this many times before but my white shirt is one of my most staple pieces in my wardrobe and I think everyone should have at least one good one. You can style them so many ways. For example inside my jumpers that I choose, inside my blazers, with wide leg pants, with jeans. The options are endless. If you think it’s time to invest in a good one I would recommend this one from M&S.

BLACK TSHIRT

A very simple piece but one I get a lot of wear out. I included my Saint Laurent one but of course a plain one is perfect too. This one looks good quality.

WHITE TSHIRT

I also included a white one for similar reasons. Definitely one of my most worn items. I love to wear ones with a round neck like this version.

WHITE/CREAM KNIT

I included three knits. The first one being my cream one. As I mentioned it’s very cold in New York right now so I’m wearing jumpers most days. I choose this one as the colour is easy to style. The one I choose is a very similar style to this one from River Island.

GREY KNIT

Again I choose the grey option because it is another versatile colour. You will notice that throughout my wardrobe that i picked very neutral colours and I think this will make it easier to style my outfits from the collection. This is the grey knit I included – the quality is amazing!

BLACK POLO NECK

..& lastly for the jumpers/knits I included my black polo neck which I live in during winter here. If you don’t have one I honestly highly recommend getting your hands on one. I love styling them and the look they create. This one is very affordable.

BLACK JUMPSUIT

I included my H&M jumpsuit with events in mind. I love the fit of it and feel great in it so I knew it was a good choice to include. It’s also such a classic piece so I know I could wear it over an over without getting sick of it. Unfortunately it is sold out but this style is almost identical.

BLACK TOP

I included one more fancy black top for Friday night drinks with the girls or date night. I could also wear it inside one of the blazers for events so I thought it was a good choice. This one is very similar to the one I included.

CAMI TOP

One of my more random choices was my H&M cami top that I have had for years but still an item that I reach for all the time. I love wearing this inside my blazers. Mine is obviously sold out but this style is very similar.

BLACK DRESS

And last but not least i included my black Escada blazer dress that I just purchased before Christmas if you remember. I adore tis dress and I thought it would be good to included at least one dress but any more fancy occasions. I’ve linked some similar options below including this one from & Other Stories.

I hope you found this helpful and maybe spotted some pieces to invest in for your own personal Capsule Wardrobe. I have linked the video below also for you to see exactly how I went about choosing these items. I also share some tips on to clear out your wardobe. I ended up with 7 bags of stuff and feel so much better after it so I promise you will too.

x Erika
