Hi everyone, I’m back to you another year older…& writing a new post from Barbados :) You may have seen on social media that I celebrated my 26th birthday here yesterday with Tommy and I can honestly say it was probably my most relaxed birthday yet. I didn’t spend too much time on my phone, took the day more or less fully off work and just chilled out on the beach. Absolute bliss! I find it so so hard to switch off, but being in Barbados definitely makes that a little easier. Oh and the all-inclusive drinks help too, haha! When I was younger, I always used to think 26 was ‘so old’ but to be honest, I’m really excited to be another year older. I’m learning so much every year and really figuring out the person I want to be and the people I want to surround myself with. Each year, I appreciate the good people even more and feel so grateful to have them in my life. It’s honestly all you need. I’m really beginning to realize that things always turn out the way they’re supposed to, you learn lessons from everyone (good & bad) who come into your life and at the end of the day, we’re all insanely lucky to just ‘be here’. Here’s to another year of chances & opportunity!
Before I share a quick update on our trip here, I just wanted to share my Day 2 look from New York Fashion Week (Day 1 HERE, incase you missed it). I absolutely ADORE this jumpsuit. As soon as I spotted in online, I bought it & put it away for fashion week. The fit, the colours, the detail…it’s my dream jumpsuit. It’s from the popular designer, Self Portrait, which to be honest I never fully got into (SO well known for their dresses) but just jumpsuit has made me fall in love!! I paired it with my Chloe Bag, some nude heels and VERY glam sunnies from Marc Jacobs. If you have an occasion coming up, or just fancy a little splurge, be sure to check out the jumpsuit HERE. Overall, Fashion Week was a quick one for me this year but as always so so fun and inspiring. It’s a bit of a mad time (lots of running around) but there’s something about it which just makes me so motivated & inspired. I love seeing the new collections, the street style, the backstage madness and of course, being able to catch up with lots of old friends in the industry. My fashion week days started off as me interning backstage and now I’m lucky enough to be invited to come & watch the shows themselves. With work and dedication, everything comes full circle in the end and I’m excited for may seasons to come!
So as I mentioned, Tommy & I are currently in Barbados for my birthday week and wow, what a treat it’s been so far. We left early Sunday morning from JFK and arrived to the first of our hotels just after lunch time. We’re here with Elegant Hotels (they have 6 hotels in Barbados) and we’ll be trying out two during our trip. SO exciting! The hotel we’re currently is called Turtle Beach and we’ll be moving to The Colony Club on Wednesday. We’re having such a ball, I actually don’t know how we’re going to leave either hotels!! We’re absolutely loving everything about Barbados so far (the people are AMAZING!) and I can’t wait to share lots more details at the end of our trip. I’ll have lots more blog posts next week, along with some videos too, so be sure to keep an eye out for them if you’d like to hear more details.
I mentioned on my Snapchat (retroflame1) this morning that unfortunately, the internet here isn’t strong enough to upload my videos, so it’s looking like my posting schedule will be a little different this week. There’ll still be 3 blog posts going live (more on Thursday & Friday) but the videos will have to wait until next week. Hope you can understand. I promise it’ll be worth the wait :)
Have a great week,
