Work Wear Ideas

workwear collageHi everyone and happy Friday! Today’s post is all about workwear ideas. A few weeks ago, I asked you guys on my Snapchat (@retroflame1) what kind of shopping posts you would like to see and so many of you requested outfit ideas for work so here it is. I know from working in an office last year that there can definitely come a time when you get a little tired of picking out a new outfit everyday and you need some new inspiration. Therefore, I thought this post could be useful and help you to pick out some new pieces for your workwear wardrobe. When picking out pieces for today’s post I really focused on choosing items you could also wear outside of work which I think is so important. I included lots of the usual staples but also some pieces that would help you transition into Spring/Summer…

BLOUSES / SHIRTS:

You all know how much I love a good shirt! In my opinion, they are the ultimate staple piece in anyone’s wardrobe! As I mentioned above, you could definitely wear any of the shirts I have chosen both for work and for normal dressing. I feel like brands have really upped their game by adding beautiful detail to their shirts lately, I especially love the bell sleeves on this one from River Island!

BlAZERS:

Blazers are another huge staple that absolutely everyone needs in their wardrobe. Since living in New York I have appreciated the power of a blazer so much. Anyone I see here wearing a blazer just always looks so well put together. Especially now that we are in Spring and temperatures are warming up, it is the perfect time to transition from your heavier coats into something lighter. I love the button detail on this one.

CULOTTES / CIGARETTE PANTS:

Last year when I worked in an office, cigarette pants and culottes were my go to items of clothing nearly everyday. I love the really professional look they give while still being very comfortable to wear at the same time. Similar to shirts, brands have also really upped their game with adding detail to cigarette pants. I love the frill detail on these ones. I think these could definitely be transitioned into a night time look also with a quick change into strappy heels which would be perfect for Friday evening drinks after work!

I really hope you liked the pieces I choose and got some inspiration for your work wear outfits. Have a great weekend – I’m off to Brooklyn to do some vintage shopping for Coachella. Be sure to follow along on my Snapchat (@retroflame1) & Instagram (@retroflame).

I’m a petite 5″1′ with somewhat narrow shoulders, do you think I can pull of these bell sleeved tops at work? Normally with button downs I need to hem the sleeves a bit. My concern is the bell sleeves will be equally too long and hemming impossible. Thoughts?
