Hi everyone, hope you’ve all been having a lovely week! If you follow along on Instagram (@retroflame), you’ll have seen that I wore this exact outfit during Christmas and it’s one that I’m more than likely going to keep wearing over and over again. You all know I love a classic black and white combination with touches of gold, so this is my latest go-to look! I’m so excited to be collaborating with CLUSE again this year and as always, I’m wearing one of their stunning watches. This is the latest one I’ve added to my collection and I now actually have it in two colours – rose gold and black. I can’t decide which I love most, but I loved wearing the rose gold version with this particular outfit. It’s always the little details that make an outfit!
As we all know, Valentines is just around the corner and this year I’m looking at it a little differently. I feel like Valentine’s is a holiday that can get quite a lot of people bogged down, but whatever your relationship status is this year, my advice is to just make the most of it & have fun! It’s one of those holidays that you kind of either love or hate, but nonetheless, it’s always good to have fun with it. This year, CLUSE’s Valentines campaign revolves all around the hashtag #TimeToLoveMe and I love the whole idea! It emphasizes the importance of putting yourself first and I guess not relying on anyone else to do this. This is something I couldn’t agree with more.
I saw a quote on Pinterest recently which said, “Your relationship with yourself sets the tone for every other relationship you have”, and I thought it was an interesting one. I truly believe that once you put yourself at the top of your to-do list every single day, the rest will fall into place in no time. Everything just seems to be a bit manic nowadays (well in my life anyway) and often, we totally forget to look after ourselves. We get so caught up in planning ahead, worrying about the small things and always thinking we need to be doing more – so we just totally overlook our own health & wellbeing. I always say ‘happy attracts happy’, so if you’re not happy – it’s going to be a hell of a lot harder to find people who are! So how do we actively make sure we are showing ourselves a little love each day/week? Well here are some VERY small things I’ve started to do:
- Actually give myself time to sit down and drink my morning coffee BEFORE starting into work
- Treat myself to a nail appointment once a week
- Watch 1 (or sometimes 5) episode/s of FRIENDS each night before I go to bed. NOTHING makes me laugh more!!
- Make time each day to go to the gym in order to switch off from my phone/laptop
- Sleep in an hour later on the weekends and do something fun with the girls
Just some tiny things I try to do each week in an effort to keep myself as happy (and sane, haha!) as possible. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not always the easiest person to be around. I’m a total workaholic who finds it really hard to switch off, but this year, I wanted to make some changes. Life is short – we all only have one of them to enjoy – so the very least we can do is be good to ourselves. So right after you finish reading this, write down your own list of 5 things you do to treat yourself each week. If you can’t think of 5 – start writing down things you want to start doing. Then the next time you’re being too hard on yourself, look to this list and do one of the things on it – RIGHT AWAY. As I mentioned, I’m not totally into Valentine’s but I must admit that I’ve loved this little reminder from CLUSE that there’s (always) #TimeToLoveMe.
This Valentine’s, I’ll be spending it with the girls here in New York and my Mom is also going to be here too which is very exciting!!
Hope you’ve all been having a lovely Wednesday,
*Huge thank you as always to CLUSE for partnering on this post.
