NYFW ’17 – Day 1

Papyrus x Andy Warhol

Hi everyone, happy Friday! Once again the week has flown by and we are well and truly in the midst of New York Fashion Week. Day 1 was a busy (and very snowy) start to the week but a fun one too! I made it to a show & a few events last night and I wanted to share more photos from one. My last event of the day was a Papyrus x Andy Warhol event and I actually think it was my favourite of the day. The party was celebrating the opening of NYFW and the partnership between Papyrus and the Andy Warhol at Christie’s exhibition. The venue was so beautiful and definitely in line with my aesthetic when it comes to decor and details.

Papyrus is a brand that I actually just discovered when I first moved to New York (I used to live by one here in the Upper East Side) and I fell in love with it straight away! It’s a brand that’s known for its premium handcrafted paper goods and they have a strong relationship with both fashion & art which sets them aside, in my opinion. Each Papyrus card has a unique design that speaks to individual style & the unique connections shared with loved ones. Oh and their attention is like no other! This year they were back at NYFW celebrating their tenth executive season & they sure know how to throw a party. See more photos from the night below…

Even though we are living through a digital age, I still love both sending & receiving personal, hand-written cards. I just feel that it is still the most personal way to get a message to someone and there is something quite special about it that I don’t want to lose sight of. I absolutely love card shopping and picking out the ‘perfect’ one for the person I’m sending it to. It’s just something you can’t put a price on.

Everything from the delicious cocktails and gorgeous flower arrangements to the beautiful art, including Andy Warhol originals and live, custom fashion illustrations by Deanna First and Veronica Collignon, made the night such a treat! I’m also excited to check out the Papyrus cafe at the Clarkson venue over the next few days in between shows, so be sure to keep an eye on my snapchat (@retroflame1) to see that too.

For NYFW Day 1, I wore a beautiful embellished top from ASOS with my classic black wide leg trousers the perfect black coat from REISS (I would get it in every colour if I could). I loved this outfit as it incorporated my usual favourite tailored pieces but still added a little sparkle. The top is not available just yet but I found some similar optionsHERE & HERE.

It was such a treat having Kaelin & Mom with me this year and I am really looking forward to the rest of this week’s events. Be sure to follow along on Instagram (@retroflame) to see everything.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
