So guys, it’s nearly that time of year again… New York Fashion Week! My mom is actually visiting this week (she arrives tomorrow) so even though I won’t make it to everything this year, I’m still excited for the shows and events I will be attending. I think it’s my 6th or 7th NYFW at this stage and over the years I’ve gone from interning backstage to being lucky enough to attend the shows myself, so although it can be a crazy time here in NYC, it still always brings back lots of special memories for me. My first New York Fashion week was spent interning with Whitney Port (her show was the day before my 21st birthday) and so it’s a time of year that reminds me that absolutely anything can happen here in NYC. If you want a LOL at some of the outfits I wore back then, take a look at this blog post I wrote all about the internship. Haha!
This year I decided not to over do it with shows & events seeing as my mom will be here & I want to spend as much time with her as I can, but I am still going to try and fit in some of my favourites. So outfit planning is finally in full swing and I am getting excited…
Above are some outfits I wore at last year’s fashion week. As you can see, even though it’s fashion week, I always still stay very true to my own style. You’ll know by now I love minimalistic outfits, tailored pieces & the some statement pieces every now and again…so I love putting together looks which incorporate all these elements. I like to keep things simple and classic but still add my personality through the little details. Here are few things I have my eye on and have purchased for this year…
I actually got this stunning blazer & trouser set from REISS and I am so looking forward to wearing it – such timeless pieces! I also love this jumpsuit from Asos and this trench style coat from Mango (of course – they are both black, haha!). As I said, I do like to keep my looks quite simple and understated but I always look for pieces that I know will still be in style this time next year again.
I really hope you like some of the pieces I have my eye on and I’m looking forward to sharing my outfits with you over the weekend on my Instagram (@retroflame) & Snapchat (retroflame1).
Hope you’re all having a great week,
