Five Highlighters That Are Worth The Purchase

Hi guys, happy Friday! I hope you all had a lovely week and are well over the January blues. Time is absolutely flying and I can’t believe I’m back in NYC almost two weeks already, even though it kind of feels like I never left. As some of you might know, Kaelin & I have been doing a little talk over on snapchat each week called ‘Flame Favourites’ where we discuss our current favourite beauty/hair/lifestyle products. We actually did a Facebook LIVE version for a change this week if you want to check that out. In one of the recent talks we did, we talked about some of our favourite highlighting products and it got a great response so I thought it would be good to share the best ones in a post this week. Here are five that we both definitely think are worth the purchase..

Five Highlighters That Are Worth The Purchase

1. CATRICE High Glow Mineral Powder – Light Infusion 001
This is definitely one of the more affordable highlighters that I have come across and it really is absolutely brilliant. It’s actually Kaelin that owns this one but I steal it all the time. It gives you such a beautiful glow! It has more of a frosty tone so it is great if you are a bit paler like me. I would 100% recommend picking it up if you can get your hands on it.

2. MAC Mineralise Skinfinish – Soft & Gentle
I think this was the first highlighter I ever owned and it is still one of my very favourites. I think it’s the colour I love most about it, it has a bit of a warmer pink tone than the Catrice one so really wearable for all skin tones. It also lasts well on the skin and is guaranteed to give you a very noticeable glow. I would definitely try some on next time you are passing MAC.

3. URBAN DECAY Afterglow 8 Hour Highlighter – Sin
This is one of the newest additions to my collection and it is quite similar to the Catrice one also, it’s just not as frosty on the skin and has a slight tinge of gold in it. The pigmentation in this one is really great and I feel like it applies really smoothly on the skin. I also love the packaging – so sleek but very durable. A really great trick as well is to spray your brush with MAC Fix + spray beforehand to make the highlight a bit more dramatic and metallic on the skin.

4. LAURA GELLER New York Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator – Gilded Honey
I actually was sent this a few months ago to try out and had never previously heard of the brand so I didn’t know what to expect. However, it ended up really impressing me. It is quite a warm gold as you can see in the photo so it’s great when I have tan on and it’s also really pigmented. This one is also more on the affordable side and very compact for when I travel.

5. BECCA X Jaclyn Hill – Champagne Pop
…& last but not least, my very favourite one of all – Champagne Pop from BECCA. Kaelin actually asked me to get her this earlier in the year in Sephora (before she moved here) and I decided to buy one for myself too. Ever since I have been absolutely hooked!! It has a lovely soft gold undertone which is gorgeous on any skin tone. the shine is amazing and a little goes a long way making it totally worth the price. If I were to buy any out of these five, it would definitely be this one!

So there you have it, my top five highlighters that I feel are definitely worth the purchase! I really hope you got some recommendations & I’ll be back with my next post on Monday. Feel free to catch up on my latest two outfit posts in the meantime (here & here) and also this week’s two new videos.

Have a great weekend,
Erika x

  1. I must get a wee look at the Catrice Cosmetics one. Albeit, I must say I do enjoy The Balm’s ‘Mary-loumanizer’, I think it’s good for pale skin, too. Have you tried that?
