Happy weekend guys! These posts have been really popular in the past so I’ve decided to get back into them as I really enjoy creating them too! It’s a nice way to reflect on the week and chat about what I got up to & was loving most. It’s been a pretty hectic month or two with the apartment move but things are finally settling down and becoming normal again so I feel like I’m enjoying a lot of the little things rather than the usuals. However, with it being Autumn (my favourite time of year for fashion) there are also a few fashion favourites in there too. I hope you enjoy it!
-The thing I’ve been loving most this week is just getting up and being able to go to my own proper desk and start work (yes, you read that right). It’s a small thing but it’s a a pretty nice change from a crowded cafe.
-When I haven’t been looking on homeware websites, I’ve been catching up on Casey Neistat‘s Vlogs, I don’t know what it is about him but I’m obsessed. Be sure to check him out if you haven’t already.
-I am so happy with this kitchen island we got from Joss & Main. It doubles as storage and a place to prepare food which is absolutely ideal for small NYC spaces.
-Staying on the homeware front (have you figured out yet just how obsessed I am?), the Havenly app that I have been using has been such a handy tool to help envision my -ideas. It has really allowed me to bring my living room vision to life and I’m so excited for it to be 100% finished soon.
-Since Kaelin started working with me here in New York, I’m definitely starting to feel a little more organised again and have more time to focus on other goals & projects outside of Retro Flame. Often, the hardest part can just be getting started but once you do get stuck in, you’ll really start surprising yourself. So just incase you’re in the same boat and also may need that extra little push, be sure to check out the post I did yesterday where I shared 5 Ways to Finally Get Started on a Goal. It was definitely one of the most enjoyable posts I’ve written in a while.
-Oh and just incase you’ve ever had a question for me in relation to Blogging, Career, Visas, New York Recommendations, Hair, Beauty…whatever! I finally add an FAQ section to the blog this week too where I answered some of the most popular questions you guys send me. A busy but productive week over here at Retro Flame HQ!
-As I mentioned before, I’ve been working from home all-week so naturally, I’ve been living in my slippers (no Shame in that) and I am loving it! My current favourites are a pair my Mom brought me from Penneys/Primark. Similar Below.
-My skin is still far from perfect but I have really been enjoying using my Image skincare products, especially the vital C face mask. It literally pushes hydration into your skin so it’s great for this time of year!
-Now for some bad news? So you now how I’ve literally used the same Remington curler for the last 4 years straight and I literally loved it with all my life? Well, it finally gave up on me last weekend. I’m still not over it!! It really was the best curler I ever had, so I’m absolutely gutted. But I always knew it was going to happen at some stage – so now the hunt for a new one must begin. Be sure to comment on my Instagram (@retroflame) or snapchat me (retroflame1) if you have any recommendations.
-My favourite fashion pieces of the week have definitely been my CLUSE Watches and my Topshop boots, I’ve barely taken either of them off! Be sure to check out my post from earlier this week all about The Best Black Boots to Buy Now and also yesterday’s post all about the latest CLUSE watch I’ve added to my collection.
-My mom, Kaelin & I recently went to ABC Kitchen here in New York and it was SO good! It had been on my list for years and I just wish I had gone there before. The food, service & decor were each better than the next!
-We also ventured out to Dumbo while my Mom was here and I had nearly forgotten how much I loved the place. If I ever move again (which won’t be anytime soon!!), I would love to live there for a while.
Tomorrow, I’m off to do something I’ve wanted to do for the longest time here in New York. I’m going PUMPKIN PICKING and yes, I’m as excited as a 5-year old child! Haha! I think it’s just one of the those American things you just have to do while you live here & I am VERY excited! I hope you all have the best Halloween Weekend and if you want to see what New York is like on a holiday weekend like this (SO fun), be sure to follow along on Instagram (@retroflame) and Snapchat (retroflame1)
Happy Friday everyone!
