Happy Monday everyone! I sort of feel like this is my first proper Autumn outfit I’ve posted this season. My favourite leather pants, a polo neck, some faux fur detail and brand new boots. My VERY favourite time of year for fashion! I don’t know why, but I feel most comfortable in my clothes during Autumn/Winter. I love layers, I love the textures and most of all I love being back in boots. I usually stick to black boots but this year, I wanted to add a few more colours to my wardrobe and these Grey Dolce Vita Pair from Zappos.com were my first find. Dolce Vita is a brand I can always rely on for quality & the two main reasons I love this style are for their pointy toe and option to make them as tight to your ankle as you want. My biggest turn-off in a boot is when they are loose on your ankles so these ones are the dream! Oh and they also come in black & wine HERE & in an over-the-knee version HERE.
“The happiest of people don’t have the best of everything,
they just make the best of everything.”
You’ll know that this past couple of weeks have been busy here in NYC but amongst all the madness, I’ve definitely learned a big lesson. It’s up to you, and only you, to make your own happiness. It’s not about how much you have or how much is on that ‘to-do/to-get’ list, it’s about learning to make the very most of the exact point you’re at now. Some people will probably think I’m half crazy putting so much effort into a rented apartment here in Manhattan, but you know what, making this place a home has brought me more happiness than anything else I’ve done in a while. Changing up the handles on a console table, painting the kitchen cabinets white, creating a cute little office space, and spraying everything in sight either gold or rose gold, haha!…all just very small things, but it means making the very best of what I already have and as a result, being happier than ever. I feel like everything I’m talking about lately relates back to this apartment move, but the same outlook goes for many other things in life too. Sometimes, it can be so hard to make a change. In your career, in relationships, whatever it may be – but realizing that even the smallest change could change everything for the better is what you need to focus on. I can’t tell you how happy I am to finally have Kaelin working on Retro Flame full-time now – I’ve already noticed such a difference and I’m actually going to do a seperate post on this later this week. And even though we’re currently sharing a tiny desk as I write this and things are still a little all-over the place until we get the office area finalized, I’m just happy to be making the most of what we do have right now. Things aren’t perfect, but they’re already a million times better.
Hope you all have a great week! Oh and incase you missed it, yesterday I shared a post with a huge list of all my go-to homeware stores & what I’ve purchased from each so far. Let me know on Snapchat (retroflame1) if you liked it :)
