Before I moved to NYC, I can honestly say I didn’t own one pair of comfortable shoes apart from my standard (ugly) gym runners. I lived in boots, heels and pretty flats and I didn’t see one thing wrong with it. Fast forward two years and I’m now always on the hunt for comfy, supportive (but still stylish) footwear. Now don’t get me wrong, I still absolutely LOVE all my nice, pretty shoes (I would NEVER give up heels) but if I know I have quite a distance to walk, I switch into proper shoes. I’m a pro at bringing heels in my bag – I think it’s something every New Yorker gets used to. I’ve always had a pretty dodgy back and suffer a lot from lower back pain so as the years have gone on, I’ve really realized the importance of supportive footwear. My future self will definitely thank me for it. So when the lovely team at Cole Haan asked me to choose and style a pair of their new 2.ZERØGRAND oxfords, the timing was perfect! I have a couple of pairs of Nikes which I used to always wear, but I had been on the lookout for something with the same support but a little more versatile. I chose this black pair and absolutely love them so far! Their dynamic energy foam is designed to comfort and propel each part of the foot, and actually rivals top-of-the-line running shoes – so it’s a win win! They also come in loads of different colours (my other favourite is the grey) and you can see them all HERE.
They’re the perfect on-the-go shoe which couldn’t fit better into my lifestyle here in NYC if they tried, so I wanted to show you three outfit ideas.
Look 1 – All-Black
Also known as ‘the outfit that never lets me down’. This is exactly the type of look which suits life in NYC. Easy and comfy enough to get you from A-B and then easily dressed up with a pair of boots/heels as soon as you arrive.
Look 2 – Off Duty/Travel
My go-to look for the days I’m running around with a million & one things to do. Camel with leather is one of the favorite combinations to wear and the shoes compliment it perfectly. I could also definitely see myself wearing this on travel days (the faux fur scarf is necessary for the forever-freezing planes).
Look 3- Sunday Morning Coffee Run
Sunday mornings are the one time of the week that I just slow everything down. I wake up a little later, throw on the comfiest look I can find and head out to pick up my favourite iced coffee from a nearby cafe. I’ll then usually stroll over to Central Park and actually sit down (without my phone glued to my hand) and just watch the world go by. Best time of the week in my very favourite city.
I would love to know your favourite look or which style is your go-to?
Have a lovely Tuesday!
*Huge thank you to Cole Haan for partnering on this post.
