I’m back in NYC!

Hello everyone, LONG time no talk here on the blog! It’s only been a few weeks but it feels like an age. While I was travelling, I decided to take a mini break from blog posts (apart from one or two I couldn’t wait to share) – but wow, am I happy to be back now! I really missed it. It’s great to be able to share everything on my Instagram (@retroflame) & Snapchat (@retroflame1), but for me, there’s nothing better than being able to have a proper chat with you here on Retro Flame….& we definitely have A LOT of catching up to do! Firstly, I hope you’ve all been having an amazing Summer. Can you believe how quickly it’s flying by? Mine has definitely been a bit of a whirlwind so far. As you know, I’ve been on the go for the last 6 weeks and just finally made it back to NYC late last night. I won’t lie, I feel like I could fall over any minute with tiredness and I’m definitely a little sad that my travels have come to an end, but it is always always always good to be back in NYC. Living in NYC makes coming ‘home’ that little bit easier.

I really don’t even know where to start to tell you all about my travels, but what I can say is that I just can’t stop thinking about the last 6 weeks. I squeezed in visits to Ireland, Dominican Republic, LA, Vidcon, San Diego, Laguna Beach, Santa Barbara, The Big Sur, Carmel by the Sea, San Francisco and spent 4th of July weekend in Lake Tahoe – which could well be my new favourite place! I drove in America for the first time (I was a bag of nerves the whole time, haha!), booked hotels an hour before check-in, visited the most breath-taking beaches, ate enough ice cream to do me a lifetime and honestly just made memories I’ll have forever. And the best part of all was that I got to do it all with so many of my very favourite people! I guess that’s what Summer is all about, right? As you can imagine, I have SO many photos & videos to share from each place, so I’m going to spend the next few days hibernating to sort through everything and will have detailed travel guides for you starting next week. When I go travelling, I really do a lot of research and try out as many places as I can, so I think you’ll find these guides really useful if you’re thinking of visiting any of the places I went to. I also CAN’T WAIT to share the videos once I get them edited! Be sure to subscribe to my new Youtube Channel , so you won’t miss any.

So as mentioned, I’m going to be spending this weekend catching up on everything here in New York – so sorry in advance if I’m a little quite on social media for the next few days. I just know I have to get stuck in before things get really busy again. I’m definitely also going to be catching up on sleep, haha! It’s so nice to be back to my own bed. I actually only have about 8 weeks left in my current NYC apartment before moving to a new one at the start of September, so the next few weeks will also be full of apartment-hunting. The apartment hunt in NYC is always a little on the stressful side, so fingers crossed I find a nice place! I’m already getting excited about decorating a whole new space. Lots of black, white, marble & rose gold to come…of course, haha!

It’s funny, I definitely loved every single minute of travelling but the work-obsessed side of me couldn’t be happier to be back in front of my laptop in NYC. Next week, I’m going to be doing a post where I’m looking back on the goals I set at the beginning of January and seeing what has been achieved and what’s still left to do. I’m actually really looking forward to writing that post, so keep an eye out. One of my main goals for this year was to travel and I think I’ve definitely crossed that one of the list so far anyway, but the rest of year is for tackling some of my work/career goals. I’m more determined than ever and I’m so excited to get stuck in. And of course, to share everything along the way with you too! Retro Flame is back in Hustle mode, for sure :)

So I hope you all have a lovely weekend, wherever in the world you are, and keep an eye out for LOTS of new posts coming up next week.

Stylishly Yours,
Erika x

Could you tell us more about apartment hunting? Like which areas you’re looking in and why, whats a good budget to work within, etc?? I’m planning on moving to NY after graduation :)
