My Top Tips for Healthy Hair

My Top Tips for Healthy Hair

Hi everyone, hope you’re all having a lovely week so far. If you’re following along on snapchat (retroflame1) you’ll know that last week, I popped into my go-to NYC hair salon, SASSOON, for a well-needed treatment. Incase you missed it, I also have a post about my last visit there. One of the main questions I get in relation to my hair is. “how I keep it so healthy’ and today’s post reveals all. Some of my top tips for healthy hair are, a good diet + lots of water, vitamins like Omega 3 to help hair strength & I always try to avoid brushing my hair when it’s wet. But as well as these, there is also one more thing I’ve now added to my hair regime. I curl my hair almost every single day, so my biggest secret to keeping it healthy and protected is a great hair treatment and mask. I literally swear by them!

Firstly, I do want to say that because I never have and probably never will dye my hair, this definitely gives me an advantage in keeping it healthy. But, on the flip side, the constant curling & styling is my downfall. So every second time I wash my hair, I’ll use a hair mask (not sure if this is too often, but it works for me) and then as often as I can, I do a professional in-salon one. Seeing as I never colour my hair – this is my little treat. My hair is like my baby, haha, so I really do look after it the best I can.

You’ll know that I don’t push a lot of hair products, etc. here on Retro Flame because I’m very fussy about what I use, so when I do recommend something in relation to hair – you can be sure that I truly LOVE it and it has made a difference. After I showed some snaps of my hair on snapchat, some of you asked if I could go into a little more detail about the actual treatment I got, so I wanted to share some more info today. As mentioned, I went to my favourite salon, SASSOON here in NYC and they used an in-salon Kerastase treatment, called Fusio-Dose. My stylist, Senior Creative Director, Elaine explained to me that the great thing about this treatment is that it’s totally customizable. The hair stylist at SASSOON examines your hair and talks to you a little about the products you use, how often you straighten/curl/dye it, etc. and then creates a tailor-made treatment, exactly suited to what your hair needs. Whether you need added shine, strength, hydration, or nutrition – the treatment is designed right there in the salon, just for you. I really don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ type of approach when it comes to hair, so that’s why I love this one.

Almost a week later, my hair feels so so soft and definitely has an added shine. I can’t say enough good things about both the treatment and SASSOON salon, so if you’re in New York, definitely pop in and try it out. If you’re already a regular at Sassoon, make sure you note the merge of their Uptown salon to their Downtown salon. The transition will conclude May 31 and bring two great teams under one roof!

Hope you had a lovely Thursday,

Stylishly Yours,

Erika x
