Weekend at The Boro Hotel

The Boro Hotel New York

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of going on a mini Staycation to The Boro Hotel here in New York. It’s a hotel which is located in Long Island City (just 10 minutes drive from the city) – a part of New York I absolutely love visiting! My photographer (and of course, friend) Christina lives out there, right by Gantry State Plaza and so I take every opportunity to visit. I fully believe that the best views of the city are from Gantry State Plaza and I just love it’s laid-back & relaxed atmosphere. I checked into The Boro Hotel Saturday afternoon and everything from start to finish was just the dream! I absolutely love living in Manhattan, I wouldn’t have it any other way, but I also love getting away from the noise and craziness every now and again. It’s a hotel which is just newly opened and as soon as I walked in the door, I knew I was going to love it. An Instagram dream, haha! The whole hotel boasts minimalistic, white & grey interiors which just couldn’t suit me more. I was in heaven!

I checked into one of the corner Manhattan view balcony rooms and I am honestly still thinking about that view! You’ll have seen my Sunday morning view on Snapchat (retroflame1) and also here on my Instagram. As well as the floor-t0-ceiling windows and the breathtaking view, the room itself also needs a very big mention. From the copper lights, to the INSANELY comfortable all-white bed – this is the type of room I would be very happy to wake up in each morning! Niamh & Michaela came along with me for the night and we all agreed that a night away from Manhattan was just what we needed. We treated ourselves to face-masks and then woke up to one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time. Pancakes, French Toast AND Pastries served right to our room. Sunday morning done 110% right!

On Sunday, Christina came to the hotel and of course, we shot some photos. We literally couldn’t stop actually, haha! We shot in the lobby area and also on the rooftop which is very cool too! The areas which I especially loved were the big open grey desk area (NEED) and also the cute book-shelf corner. Oh and how could I forget the big open fire right in the middle of the lobby! When it comes to design and interiors, it really is all about the attention to detail and this hotel nails it in every single aspect.

Going on mini staycations has definitely been added to my ‘do more often’ list (I’m obsessed with nice hotels) and although I definitely want to try out more hotels here in New York, I 100% want to go back to The Boro this coming Summer. I can already see myself, cocktail in hand, relaxing on the rooftop and more than likely accompanied with a side of pancakes. Haha! If you’re coming to New York and looking to stay at a hotel just outside the city, I couldn’t recommend this one enough. You can check out their Instagram HERE for some more photos.

My parents are here in New York this weekend so it’s going to be another fun one. Be sure to follow along on snapchat (retroflame1) and Instrgram (@retroflame) to see where I bring them this time around.

Hope you’ve all had a great week,

Stylishly Yours,
Erika x
