Happy Monday guys! This was my first weekend back in NYC after the Christmas break and I must admit that it was so good to be back to my usual routine! Overall, it was a very relaxed weekend used to catch up with the girls and catch up on work but I now I really feel properly on track for the year ahead. On Saturday, I did a mini Q&A over on my snapchat (retroflame1) and I couldn’t believe the response. You guys seemed to really enjoy it so I’m definitely going to make an effort to make this a more regular thing. The main questions which you seem to have are about my move to New York, where I work, how I started blogging….and a very popular one is, how I curl my hair. So I’m going to create blog posts around these topics, but I’ll be sharing everything on my snapchat first – so be sure to follow along if you’re interested. The outfit I’m showing you guys here is literally an alteration of what I’ve been wearing most days since I got back to NYC. This REISS faux-fur coat (Sold out – but similar HERE) is genuinely the warmest item of clothing I have ever owned and I just can’t take it off. I am in love! I’ve also been living in my new Victoria Beckham black jeans (love how high-waisted they are) and of course, I’ve been very excited to wear my new Givenchy Antigona bag. You may have seen on my Instagram that I treated myself to at bag this Christmas and I just know it is something I’m going to have for years to come. Classics never date!
…and speaking of classic, investment pieces, I wanted to use this post to share a list of the 5 Winter Wardrobe Essentials that I think EVERY wardrobe needs. I’ve said it a million times before, but if you really focus on investing in some key items at the beginning of each season, you’ll be amazed at how much easier putting your daily outfits together will be.
1. Faux Fur Coat
The perfect answer to keeping warm while still being stylish. This is the first year that I’m really starting to love faux fur coats and I really couldn’t recommend in investing in one enough. There are SO many amazing styles to choose from.
2. Good Quality Black Jeans
This Christmas, I invested in my first pair of good-quality jeans – which were also my very first Victoria Beckham purchase. They are AMAZING! I love high-waisted jeans as they make my pretty short legs look that little bit longer and the fit of these ones are just perfect. A good pair of black jeans will bring you absolutely anywhere so it’s well worth spending that little bit extra.
3. Investment Black Bag
As mentioned, I’m utterly over the moon to finally own the Givenchy Antigona. It’s a bag I’ve been eyeing up for at least 6 months so it definitely was a well thought out purchase and something I will use SO much.
4. Heeled Black Boots
Another item that I wear almost every single day are heeled black boots. Perfect for the days where you want to feel a little more dressed up but don’t want to endure the pain of heels. I have two pairs I’m wearing in rotation at the moment and I just couldn’t live with out them.
5. Black Sweater/Polo Neck
Probably the most simple piece of all, but definitely one of the most important. The perfect layering piece and also an item which will immediately add a little ‘chic’ to an outfit.
Remember, it’s all about quality over quantity.
Hope you’re all having a great start to the week!
