Sweater Shop Baby Blue Turtle Neck Jumper // Grey Coat (Similar) // Grey Ripped Jeans
Black Boots (Similar) // Celine Sunglasses // Daniel Wellington Watch

The main clothing item I always invest in at this time of year is a turtle neck. Such an effortless piece which needs little or no styling. I like to have a mix of colours to work with throughout Autumn/Winter – my essentials are usually black, grey, beige and I love adding in a few brighter colours like this baby blue turtleneck from The Sweater Shop. Seriously, I don’t think it could be any more comfortable! I love the woven detail and the contrast against the grey coat.

Time has a funny away of making things a lot clearer. My photographer, Christina, and I moved to New York at the same time last year and we always chat about how much can happen & change in just one single year. I think the reason we both work very well together is because we are very similar in our goals & work ethics. I’ve talked about it before – but moving to New York is quite the challenge so you really do have to be a certain type of person to survive the million & one things it throws at you. When you move here, you’re a nobody and quite frankly, you’re starting from the very bottom. So your first year here is vital and involves A LOT of work. I always say that a year in New York is like 10 years somewhere else because you honestly can do & achieve so much in such a short space of time. Looking back at this time last year & comparing it to now really makes me realize that so much has changed. As the quote above describes, it is such an amazing feeling to be able to do things I once didn’t even consider as a possibility. Whether it’s working with a brand I’ve loved forever, having a job I always dreamed about or just plain & simply…living (a.k.a.surviving) in New York – it’s nice to look back and focus on just how far you’ve come instead of how far you still have to go.

I am so lucky to have such a great group of friends here in New York and it’s honestly the best feeling in the world when one of us achieves a goal we’ve been working towards. Our group has been growing for a year now (Lorna, Michaela, Lisa, Ciara, Niamh…and we’re all pretending Louise is still here, haha!) and I’m so appreciative to have a group of friends who are all on the same track. These girls have achieved SO much too – be sure to give them a follow. Yes, we have bad days here (you’ll see the real New York on our snapchats, haha!) but it’s all part of it. I just know we’ll all look back and realize that everything has a way of working out. Plus, at least we can just laugh through all the hard parts together.

Hope you’re all having a great week so far!

Stylishly Yours,

Erika x
