If you follow me on snapchat (retroflame1), you’ll know that last week I made a trip to Newbridge to visit the Newbridge Museum of Style Icons. I had heard a lot about it beforehand but I can honestly say that I was absolutely blown away! I won’t lie, I wouldn’t usually be a museum kinda girl, but when it’s a museum full to the brim of the most stunning vintage pieces, I am 100% interested. The whole space is so well decorated & I genuinely could have spent hours wandering around listening to the stories behind each piece.

The idea of this museum began when the owner of Newbridge Silverware went along to the auction & participated in the bid for Audrey Hepburn’s iconic black dress. The bidding went upto 600K but then a private phone bidder won with a bid of 600K (!!) and this phone bidder ended up being Givenchy himself! The owner of Newbridge didn’t end up getting the black dress but purchased some of her other pieces on the day and that’s how it all began. The Audrey Hepburn room was definitely my favourite. She was just out of this world stunning and it was so interesting to see some of the pieces she is known for. Also, she was absolutely tiny! The waist size on the dresses was even smaller than you would imagine. Really interesting to see!

As well as a full room dedicated to Audrey, the museum is full of pieces from Princess Diana, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, The Beatles, Michael Jackson & more. It’s so clear that everything has been so carefully chosen and as mentioned before, you could literally spend hours there looking at everything.

After I finished in the museum, I was treated to a delicious afternoon tea downstairs in the restaurant. My Mom was supposed to come with but wasn’t able to in the end, but I am definitely going to go again during Christmas & bring her along. Such a perfect girls day out! And the best thing of all is that it’s totally FREE! Let me know if you’ve been before or if you’re planning a trip? I would love to see your snaps (retroflame1).

As you know, I’m back in New York again after an amazing September at home. I’ve definitely been a little homesick this past weekend but I think it will just take me a little while to settle back in again. I absolutely love New York to bits & there’s no where I’d rather be at the moment, but, unfortunately, the goodbyes to all my friends & family at home just never get easier. I just need to come up with a plan to convince them all to move over here with me, haha :)

Hope you’re all having a lovely start to the week!

Stylishly Yours,

Erika x

That looks like my kind of place! We are going to Dublin in January for my husband’s 40th. Maybe I could leave him at the bourbon tasting and go there instead!
