Career Talk & What #IWorkFor

#IWorkFor

Happy Friday everyone! One of the main questions I get is to do with my career path & current job. Personally, I always seem to have a million & one things going on in relation to my career. I absolutely love being busy & always love getting stuck into as many projects as I can. Right now, I’m focused on two different careers both of which I am equally as passionate about – 1) As a fashion & lifestyle blogger here at Retro Flame and 2) as a social media manager at Vince Camuto & Louise et Cie. If you had told me a few years ago that I would be lucky enough to be part of these two careers, I really would have struggled to believe you. Working in fashion is definitely not all plain sailing. It’s extremely competitive and you really have to put 110% into everything to get to where you want to be. But with hard work and a lot of dedication, anything is possible.

When I initially moved to NYC, the job-hunt was, undoubtedly, one of the hardest parts. As part of my visa, I am required to work full-time in a position that relates to what I studied in college (Business & Marketing). There were days where I genuinely was ready to give up, but thankfully I kept on going and everything worked out just perfect. I’m a big believer in the fact that what’s for you will never pass you. I get a lot of questions from people moving to New York & also from people living here about the best ways to look for & find your dream job and one of my answers is always Indeed.com. It is honestly amazing! It’s really easy to navigate through and so many exciting things came from the applications I sent through it.

Another thing I also am a big believer in is working at something you are truly passionate about. For me, #IWorkFor happiness and this will always be my number one priority. Life is far too short to ever waste time doing something which makes you anything but happy so this is always my outlook when looking for any kind of work.

It definitely takes a while to get to a stage where you are 100% happy in your career, but promise yourself that you won’t stop until you get there. Ask yourself the question – what do #IWorkfor? And whatever it is that you want that answer to be, keep going until you get it.

Hope you all have a great weekend! I’m off to Electric Picnic here in Ireland, so feel free to follow along on Snapchat (Retroflame1) and Instagram.

Stylishly Yours,
