Happy Monday everyone! I’m back in the city after an absolutely amazing weekend in The Hamptons. If you were following along on Instagram & Snapchat (retroflame1), you’ll have already seen lots of snaps but I wanted to do a quick recap here also. So many photos to share from one of my new favourite places.
A couple of weeks ago, the lovely Michaela from Life of a Lady Bear suggested that we look into booking a house through AirbNb for the weekend and of course, it was a big fat YES from me. Summers are all about traveling, so I take every single opportunity that comes my way. We found the cutest little house in Hampton Bays where 11 of us spent the weekend. I have to say it was such a treat to be back in a proper house! You really appreciate space (a simple thing, I know) after living in Manhattan for a year. My usual travel buddies, Louise & Lorna, also came along and before we knew it, we felt as if we had known the rest of the group forever too. It’s always so fun to meet & travel with new people.
The house itself was absolutely perfect. When we arrived on the Friday evening, we all helped to cook a big ‘family’ BBQ, followed by the most delicious smores. Can’t believe I’ve never had them before! Then on Saturday morning, Michaela cooked us a yummy pancake breakfast which I’m still dreaming about. It’s always more fun cooking with & for a big group.
Saturday was spent at Ponquogue Beach and then that evening we traveled into Southhampton to do some exploring. Such a beautiful (& very fancy) part of the Hamptons! We grabbed a coffee and did a little people watching which I loved. Louise & I were delighted that we bumped into New York fashion blogger, Something Navy, who was nice enough to take a quick snap with us. Then just as we were walking back to our car, a lovely Retro Flame follower came up to say hi & say that she loved reading my blog. I honestly am still smiling about it. Such a small world :)
On Sunday, we decided to continue the exploring and spend the day in Westhampton. We treated ourselves to the most delicious brunch (french toast, of course) at Post Stop Cafe – which I couldn’t recommend enough! Afterwards, we found an absolutely beautiful private beach and spent our last few hours there before heading back to the city. I really can’t even put into words how stunning Westhampton is. On the way to the beach, we drove along a road lined with beach-front mansions which literally left me in awe. Outside each of the houses were the fanciest cars you could imagine and it’s not an exaggeration when I say that about 80% of them had private pools & tennis courts. Not to mention the fact that there were steps leading from their front doors directly onto the beach. I literally had never seen anything like it before! Louise & I spent the evening making plans about how one of these houses will some day be ours, haha!
I have to admit, I now definitely have a (VERY) big soft-spot for the Hamptons. I know it’s a place that can sometimes be portrayed as quite snobby, but there is absolutely no denying how beautiful is. I would 100% go back in a heartbeat and it’s something I’m already planning.
I can definitely say that this past weekend was my favourite of the whole Summer so far. Summer is all about travel, good friends & making memories and this weekend was the absolute perfect mix of all three.
Hope you all had a good one too!
