Happy Monday everyone! I’m back in the city again after a great weekend in Fire Island – an area of New York which has been on my list all Summer. It was a bit of a last minute trip so I packed pretty light -mostly casual stuff as it’s a very laid-back & chilled place. I borrowed these Vintage Levi’s from Ciara (which I don’t want to give back, haha) and pretty much wore this white shirt all weekend. You can never go wrong with good basics!
We left straight after work on Friday and made it out there at about 9pm. We got the train from Penn Station to Bay Shore and then got the ferry across to the island. The ferry itself was definitely one of my highlights from the whole trip as we got it just as the sun was setting. So as you can imagine, the views were amazing! We stayed in an area called, Saltaire, at a beautiful house owned by Lorna’s boss and we honestly could’t have been more looked after. It was such a stunning beach house with the most amazing deck area (where we spent most of our Sunday).
The island itself is really long and is broken up into lots of different towns. There are absolutely no cars/roads on the island so you either cycle or walk everywhere. It’s honestly like a different world out there! On the Friday night, the girls I all slept 12 hours -which was probably the longest I’ve slept all year. After coming from noisy New York, the quietness was just bliss. We spent Saturday at the beach which was absolute heaven and then had a lovely BBQ at the house Saturday night.
As mentioned, we stayed is Saltaire but also visited Fair Harbour & Kismet while we were there. Each town is just stunning! A trip back is definitely on the cards for next Summer. Hope you enjoyed all the snapchats (@retroflame1) & Instagrams (@retroflame). I’m back in NYC now and ready to make the most of my last week of the Summer here before I head back to Ireland next Monday.
Hope you all have a great weekend too!
