It gets HOT here in New York during the Summer and more often than not it’s not that nice kind of hot (think humid & sticky) so it’s vital to have a good selection of light, flowy items to get you through it. This green dress is perfect. It’s light enough to keep you cool, but still covered-up enough to be city-appropriate. Paired with simple black sandals, the biggest hat I own and the handiest little lace bandeau, it’s my go-to type of look for an evening in my favourite Central Park spot.
As you’ve probably guessed, Central Park is quite spread out, but after a lot of wandering throughout the last year, I’ve definitely found my favourite spots and want to share a mini Central Park Guide. My absolute number 1 favourite is exactly where we shot these photos. To get there, you can enter at 76th street on the east side and then the conservatory runs between 75th to 72nd street. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve been there and had one of those ‘I love New York’ moments. Yes I know, cringey as it gets, but I dare you to go there and not feel the same.
The conservatory is lined with benches (a great people-watching spot as you can imagine) and it’s honestly the perfect spot to sit with a coffee & a book. At the weekends, there’s usually somebody playing music and there is a tiny little shop where you can get drinks & snacks. If ever I go missing, you’ll find me here.
Some of my other favourite parts include:
- Strawberry Fields
- The Boathouse – I definitely recommend renting the boats.
- Bethesda Fountain
- The Mall & Literary Walk
- The Reservoir – Beautiful running track all around it.
- Sheep Meadow – Perfect Sunday spot.
- Gabstow Bridge – I love this whole area near the 59th street (Plaza Hotel) entrance.
But of course, all the fun is in the wandering & getting lost. This is the best way to find YOUR favourite spots.
Hopefully you’ve found this Central Park guide useful :)
