Summer & white dresses seem to go hand-in-hand, so this flared sleeve dress was a no-brainer. Look at those sleeves! In LOVE. As usual, I kept the accessories simple and wore a few of my favourite black basics. My Chloe Elle, black heels & my favourite Daniel Wellington Watch. And then added a little colour through the best ice-cream van in Soho :)
“Honestly, as long as your happy, who the hell cares.”
When I spotted this dress online, I initially wondered if it was a little too OTT for New York? Not that it’s even an over-the-top dress but I just wondered if maybe it was too girly or not ‘chic’ enough. Sounds crazy to even think along those lines, I know, but I can’t help but feel that the fashion industry is starting to brainwash so many of us. I’ve always been really good at finding unique & usually inexpensive pieces anywhere from a car boot sale to a random boutique in Brooklyn (I like to think it’s a secret talent of mine, ha!) and this dress has reminded me of exactly where & why Retro Flame began. All I’ve ever wanted to do is share those unique finds with you too. I might be a little crazy, but there is honestly no better feeling than finding something which you know not everyone will have. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my high-street & designer shopping from time to time but the fun is in wearing something which you’re extra proud to have found.
So often when I’m choosing outfits I stress myself out (this morning was an example, as mentioned on my snapchat – retroflame1) but I need to keep reminding myself that at the end of the day, fashion is something I love and will always love…& so it needs to be kept fun. So as a promise to you guys, Retro Flame will never stop featuring those quirky/unusual pieces which may often turn a head or two here in New York or anywhere else in the world for that matter. Because as long as you yourself are happy wearing something, who the hell cares!
Hope you’re all having a great week,
