“Always focus on how far you’ve come rather than how far you’ve left to go.”
This week marks the end of my first month at my new (full-time) job. As someone who went from college straight into freelance work/self-employment, it definitely has been an adjustment. But a really good one at that! It’s been even busier than I expected, but I’m learning a crazy amount and also learning how to utilize every single second of my time.
So after a lot of hard work these past few months, I’ve decided to treat myself. Often, we’re so busy focusing on how far we’ve left to go, or what else we need to achieve that we completely forget to take a step back and give ourselves a little pat on the back to celebrate just how far we’ve come. I really can’t remember who told me this (probably my Mom) but I’ve had it in my head for years now that as soon as I would be working full-time, part of my first proper pay-check would be spent on a sentimental, investment piece which will always remind me of this particular stage of my life.
Since moving to New York, I’ve become even more obsessed with all things designer and so I’ve decided that the investment will be a bag. I’ve been searching on the Monnier Freres website and I’ve narrowed down some of my favorites. I’m loving the Chloe Drew in both black & beige and also love this sleeker version too. I’ve also been lusting after a Sophie Hulme bag for about three years now and this black & gold version definitely comes out on top. Look at that hardware! I haven’t made any decisions just yet (it takes me a while) so I’d love to know what you think? Or if you have any other suggestions?
Hope your week is going well,
