“When you do what you love with passion, success won’t be too far away.”
I’m back to you guys with a brand new all grey outfit & a quick little update. This past week has been absolutely hectic – to say the least. As you might know, I was in Ireland until Monday and then went right into a new job here in New York on Tuesday morning. I always think that I’ll be able to keep going without getting tired/run-down but this never ever seems to go to plan. Jet lag is just unavoidable! Thankfully though, I got a chance to catch up on some sleep this weekend and I’m finally feeling human once again. They’re not lying when they say you will be constantly tired while living in New York. And they certainly weren’t lying when they said that time here goes insanely fast…this weekend marked my first 6 months in NYC. Crazy!
So on Sunday (despite the snow) I ventured to Soho to try out The Egg Shop. It had been on my list for a while & I can definitely say it didn’t disappoint. Afterwards, me & the girls went to Georgetown Cupcake which was equally as AMAZING. You might have seen my snapchats? (Username: retroflame1). I’ve been living in this grey coat (similar here) since I got it. It’s so warm and seems to just go with everything! I’m definitely going through a grey phase at the moment. I also got a chance to wear some new jewellery from NYC designer, Kelly Bello. How perfect is the ring?
As I mentioned, I started a brand new job last week. I’m so excited to be the new Social Media Manager at Vince Camuto! Vince Camuto is a global brand which I have loved for years, so it’s a little surreal to be here now working in their New York office. As you might know, I studied Marketing in university and then went on to develop an even bigger love for digital marketing through Retro Flame. What started as a hobby turned into a realization about what I might like to do ‘when I grow up’. Over the past 3-4 years, I’ve spent countless hours teaching myself tips & tricks, reading online articles, attending talks & short courses, experimenting with different techniques…& just always trying to stay ahead of the game. Learning how to promote this little blog/brand of mine was more or less completely self-taught. I absolutely love seeing what other bloggers/brands are doing and can honestly say that besides fashion itself, it’s the digital marketing side of things which really excites & inspires me!
I started Retro Flame from my bedroom in Kerry. Fast-forward 3/4 years…it’s one of the main reasons I have been lucky enough to secure a managerial position at a fashion company in New York city. I’m a little weird in that I 100% believe that everything eventually links together. Everything you do has a reason behind it and each experience is another step towards where you eventually want to be! It’s all been a bit of a whirlwind so far, but I genuinely couldn’t be more grateful for this upcoming challenge/experience and I’m so excited to share more details with you guys as time goes on :)
Hope you’re all having an amazing week so far!
