Happy Monday everyone, hope you all had a lovely weekend. You might know from my @retroflame Instagram that my friend (& fellow Blogger) Nessa is visiting from Ireland this week, so I’ve been having so much fun showing her around. NYC Weekends are just the best and this past one has been my favourite so far. I’ve definitely figured out my very favourite ways to spend a weekend here & I’m excited to share all the details with you too.
I started off my weekend at my local cafe, Cafe Noi, with a hazelnut latte (amazing!!) and a little bit of blog work. Now that I work full-time, I really cherish any free time I have to work on Retro Flame. Afterwards, I met up with the girls and went for a stroll along Madison Avenue (which I begin to love more & more each time I go there) and visited Laduree (of course) my very favourite store, Kate Spade NY. I can honestly say that this is one of the best things you could do while living in/visiting New York. Like me, Nessa loves beautiful decor and pretty bags, shoes, accessories, stationery…and more, so I knew she would just love it. I think we were definitely in there for about an hour! (See more photos from the store HERE)
Next stop was Central Park and Wow, where do I begin!? I think everyone always hears about how amazing Central Park is during Autumn and we all have seen the pictures. But experiencing it in person has honestly been something I will never ever forget. It is absolutely breath-taking! From here on, I literally don’t want to spend an Autumn anywhere else in the world. Later on that evening, we went for a delicious dinner at my favourite Mexican restaurant, Dos Caminos (Meatpacking District), followed by some prosecco & cocktails at the Standard Hotel. The perfect Saturday in my eyes :) Also, I loved wearing my new gold trousers from H&M.
Sunday was equally as busy….& fun! Nessa & I started our day with a little shoot in Central Park with Emily for our blogs. We couldn’t possibly have asked for a better backdrop and I’m so excited to show you the shots! Afterwards, we grabbed a quick coffee & pastry at Maison Kayser (best chocolate & almond croissants EVER!) before we headed off to Williamsburg for the evening. I absolutely love getting away from Manhattan at the weekends (this place gets a little crazy after a while) so more often than not, I pay a visit to Brooklyn on either Saturday or Sunday. It’s so fun there! I brought Nessa to the Artist & Fleas market and also my favourite vintage/thrift shop, Beacon’s Closet….and we ended up buying way more than we had planned. Of course! It’s just not possible for me to go vintage shopping & not buy something.
Then just when I thought the day couldn’t get much better, we decided to go to the rooftop of The Whyte Hotel to grab a drink and watch the sunset. I think I can genuinely say that this has been the highlight of all my time in New York so far. Just WOW! The views of Manhattan and the cotton candy sky couldn’t have been a more perfect combination. If you’re living in New York or are planning a visit…add this to your list right now! Nessa was laughing at me because I literally couldn’t stop smiling the whole time we were there! There are days in New York when I wonder if all the rush, stress and craziness are worth it…but days like yesterday remind me that it’s 110% (& more) worth it all! We definitely were reluctant to leave this amazing spot but the most delicious burgers were waiting for us at Five Leaves in Greenpoint. I’m still thinking about how good they were!
As I said, NYC Weekends are the very best and I’m so excited to explore this city even more over the next few months. Also WISHING that Nessa never had to go home!!
Hope you’re all having a lovely Monday,
