For the first day of fashion week, I kept it very simple. The style in New York is extremely chic. They love monochrome, simplicity & structure and so I wanted to keep my look very classic. I found these cream trousers in Forever21 last Summer here in NYC and they really were such a good purchase. I paired them with a vintage top and black & gold accessories. My usual combo!

The first day was definitely one of the busiest ones! I attended a rooftop event with NYLON Magazine at The Gansevoort and also went to some very cool shows & presentations, including MEDEN (which I loved!), Arden Wohl x Cri de Coeur and Marissa Webb. The exciting news is that I was attending a lot of these events/shows on behalf of the company I was working with and I’m so excited to finally be able to share all the details….

So yes, I’ve been working with Olivia Palermo!! And what’s even crazier is that yours truly took the above photos which are also featured on her website – www.oliviapalermo.com. So how did all this come about?? During the Summer, I applied for a job with her company and after about 6 weeks of talking with her team….I got the job! I couldn’t believe it. The great news too is that it’s a paid position which is always a bonus in the fashion industry. I’m a huge fan of Olivia’s style and her fashion & personal style blog, so as you can imagine, I just couldn’t wait to get started. Throughout the week, I attended shows on behalf of her Website, shot her personal style photos (See the looks I shot here, here, here & here) and also wrote an article for her website which you can read here. It was a whirlwind week to say the least! From the very first minute I met her she was absolutely lovely! She is so chatty, friendly and of course…..so so STUNNING! The first day I met her, I actually don’t know how I managed to keep my hand steady enough to take her photo for the site. Each of her outfits were nicer than the next and she even told me on a few occasions that she liked what I was wearing too! It was one of those weeks were everything was just a little surreal! I’m going to be working with the team throughout the rest of fashion month (London, Paris & Milan) which I’m very excited about too and of course, I’ll keep you guys updated throughout (Be sure to follow along on my Instagram @retroflame for regular updates and I also have a snapchat now too ‘retroflame1’). It really is true when they say that anything is possible in New York!

My NYFW Day 2 outfit is coming up tomorrow + lots more stories from the week!

Hope you’re all having a lovely Sunday,

Stylishly Yours,

Erika x
