If you follow me on Instagram (@retroflame), you’ll know that one of my very favourite places is Rossbeigh Beach – a beach just 5 minutes from my house at home in Ireland. While I was living at home for the past year, there was rarely a day I didn’t go there for a walk/run, so after a month here in New York City, I was craving some fresh air….& peace! Luckily, Coney Island (A beautiful beach & boardwalk) is just about an hour away from Manhattan on the subway. So Kaelin & I made the trip this weekend and I’m so glad we did. I’m the kind of girl that absolutely loves cities but it really is so nice to get away every now & again. As it was a very chilled out day, so was my outfit. It’s quite rare to see my in Converse (or trainers of any sort) but I absolutely loved wearing them and I have a feeling you’ll be seeing them a lot more often now. The striped tshirt was a COS purchase & the shorts are belong to Kaelin (benefits of sharing an apartment with someone with a very similar style). You can never go wrong with good basic pieces!

We spent the day strolling along the boardwalk, relaxing on the sand and….eating. There was A LOT of eating! The ice-cream from Coney’s Cones as so so good. I’m still thinking about it. If you’re thinking of making the trip, it’s really easy to get there. You just take the D, F, N or Q Train to Coney Island (Last stop). It’s such a fun day out!

Overall, I had a really chilled out weekend. Yesterday, I went out for brunch at Sarabeth’s with the girls and then spent the evening in Bryant Park (I love it there). NYC Weekends are the best :)
