At a meeting yesterday, the topic of ‘Investment Pieces’ came up in conversation and we discussed their importance. Up until about a year ago, I just did not believe in spending a crazy amount of money on one piece -whether it be a coat, trousers, a bag, etc. Instead, I would shop on the high-street every single week, buying pieces which would barely last me into the following season. But things have changed and I’m glad they have. Now, instead of spending €100 on say 4 items on the high-street, I’ll spend €100 on 1 good-quality item which I will hopefully have for a very long time. It’s all about investing into your wardrobe -purchasing pieces which won’t just last you for one particular season but will, instead, still be around in a few years from now. I guarantee that if you have certain good-quality & versatile pieces in your wardrobe -putting outfits together will be a lot easier in the long run. I’m slowly building my ‘capsule wardrobe’ which I can constantly change up by adding my vintage & more quirky pieces.

This beautiful blue coat is, undoubtedly, a piece I will have for many years. The colour, the cut and most importantly the quality is perfect and I’m so thrilled to have found it. Everyone knows that the ‘Pink Coat’ seems to have taken over this season but all I have wanted since August was a blue version and it was definitely worth the wait! It arrived during the week along with these amazing London Retro Glasses. During the past few years, I have gone through so many pairs of inexpensive sunglasses, so it’s now time to start investing in some good pairs that won’t just last me for a couple of months. These glasses are actually plain prescription glasses, but because I’m totally sunglasses-obsessed, MyOptique.com offered to add tinted glass instead. All I can say is that I have never seen anything so perfect! My capsule wardrobe is coming along nicely…

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Stylishly Yours,

Erika x

I really need to make a start on a capsule wardrobe.. I’ve tried pressing “complete purchase” but I just can’t and then end up in Penney’s the next day! Argh! Lovely coat though, nice addition :)

I love this blue coat. A great statement piece. I too am trying to build a capsule wardrobe by investing in quality pieces. It’s something I have learned from Italians, while living here. They really appreciate quality and spending more money on one item rather than many. I try to clean out my wardobe each season to see what I still wear and what I am over. I find it is a good way to figure out my personal style and what I really like.
