OK I am so so so so so excited to finally be able to show you this shoot I styled a few months back. It was published today in XO Magazine, you can check it out HERE. When we did the shoot, it was the time when grunge, 90’s & that “Tumblr girl look” were really popular so I was so delighted to be able to be so creative with the styling. A lot of the clothes I used are my own & many are pieces I added a bit of DIY to. The oversized denim jacket which you see in some of the shots, I got in Brick Lane in London during my trip there in April & I added the studs to the shoulders myself on the morning of the shoot (last minute as usual) & altogether it cost just under €20. I absolutely love it & being honest, I wish I had brought it to NYC with me. The check shirt is also a little DIY project of mine. I bought it in the mens section of Dunnes for €5 and then just chopped off the sleeves & added some studs. The result was a very inexpensive Topshop lookalike :)
The model is my very patient & gorgeous sister, Kaelin. I love doing shoots with her because more often than not she really advises me with the styling & lets me know what’s working & what’s not. This shoot was more than perfect for her as she has a really daring & interesting style herself, so I think that’s why this look really works with her. Her ombre hair was ideal & most of the cool jewellery you see is from her HUGE collection. Take a look at her Tumblr HERE to see all her inspirations.
The other contributors to this team are of course, the amazing Saibh Egan & Flora Psarianos. Oh how I miss these girls here in NYC !! I know I’ve said this before, but I adore working with these two, every shoot we do is always so fun & I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into some more shoots once I get home in September :)
So I really hope you like it – I would love to hear what you think? Also, isn’t the title great? Saibh got the inspiration from this song below -check it out !
